Beaded Scarves

I love this Art Deco-inspired design by Deanna K. Van Assche. It's based on the classic garter stitch, so it's reversible, and it's accentuated with beads (and crystals or semi-precious stones) for a look that has more shimmer than an early Hollywood movie star—which is what inspired me to name each one after a favorite actress.

Lace Ruffle Scarves

The Lace Ruffle Scarves are a confection of dense, frilled ruffs so majestic that they could have been inspired by Queen Elizabeth I and are offset by fine, lacy openwork. The ruffles are fashioned from soft wool-acrylic polyamid and the lace is a luxe mix of merino wool and shimmering viscose-poly.

Each of these whispery-light scarves is named after one of my close friends, and they are based on Iris Schrier's classic Victorian ladder pattern, a design with which I have some history. My kids were going away to college when I started experimenting with this design's short, airy rows and I became carried away with all the beautiful yarn choices.

These scarves have twisting swirls of super-soft and smooth mohair, accentuated by plush wool-acrylic polyamid ruffles. They are a delightful combination of texture and color designed to charm and delight.
